Please enjoy Preemie Prints' families’ inspirational story & photos. Consider supporting our mission to share hope with families who have a baby born prematurely or critically ill. We thank our supporters, Preemie Prints volunteers, and donors for allowing us to continue touching the lives of NICU, preemie, and angel families.

We pray these special memories from Preemie Prints will help families heal and remember how strong they were in overcoming their NICU journey together.

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM NATALIE AND MADELINE'S FAMILY

My twin girls were born at 30 weeks and 1 day. We had a long two month journey in the NICU. Looking back it seems like a distant memory but I remember visiting my babies, praying for them, and pushing for them. I pumped my milk for them religiously and brought it to my girls daily. We celebrated the little things like no oxygen and then I cried and cried when they had to have it again. It's very true what they say - it is a roller coaster. It's up and down every day and it feels like it will never end. But it will. We finally got to bring our girls home a few weeks before their due date and they were soooo tiny. I remember being so scared and going to doctor after doctor. But now they're healthy and have all kinds of personality. Just know this: there is a life outside of the NICU and one day you will be living it with your sweet baby and you'll barely remember these days. This too shall pass. Stay strong, its a rough ride. But soooo worth it.

Natalie and Madeline's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Brian C. Parks.

A Note From Brian:

This shoot didn't go quite as planned. As soon as I stepped out the door and saw the dense fog everywhere, I knew we were in trouble (especially with the family having driven in earlier that morning!). Luckily, the family was willing to spend a little time in town to give the sun time to burn away the fog.

About an hour or so later, we reconvened and had beautiful (and surprisingly cool!) weather for the shoot. The twins were game for three different outfits and almost a full hour of shooting. They did an outstanding job! Thanks to the family for their patience and adaptability!

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MARILYN'S FAMILY
18 weeks into my pregnancy I was told my baby hadn't grown in 2 weeks, I was told by my care provider a DNC Would be our best interest, I didn't accept that. I switched care providers and began mild bed rest. At 27 weeks I was hospitalized to receive steroids and await my babies arrival. At 30 weeks exactly at 4:07 pm I gave birth to a 1lb 6oz micro preemie named Marilyn. She was one of the tiniest babies on the unit. When she was born she was given a 30% chance of survival with no major health issues. She was diagnosed with failure to thrive, IUGR & BPD. After 107 days between the level 3 NICU and the special care nursery we were finally able to go home.

Marilyn's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Jennifer Sternal-Johnson.

A Note From Jen:
Photos from Marilyn's first birthday! She sure has grown: from a 30 week, 1lb 6oz micropreemie to a happy one year old! So glad to see her thriving.

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOHAMMED AND ZIYAD'S FAMILY

Thanks to God I knew I was going to have my babies at 34 weeks, so I was mentally prepared for the hard time we were going to have. Though I had a little breakdown two weeks after labor because they didn't progress in their weight gain as the doctor had hoped, I tried to remind myself that it's just a matter of time and everything is going to go as we wished. And that's what happened at day 18; they reached the target weight and it was the happiest day when we took them home.

Mohammed and Ziyad's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Brian C. Parks.

A Note From Brian:

Mohammed and Ziyad did great for their first big photo shoot. It was hotter than I was expecting (it always is!), but they were troopers (as were Mom and Dad!). Three months old and already so much personality. The whole family was incredibly photogenic, so we made sure to get some group shots with everyone.  : )

Rainbow baby Elijah and his family visited the studio recently. Love that we were able to paint the rainbow on his feet (even if he smeared the paint in the first 5 seconds!)

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM JULIA'S FAMILY
Julia was a twin pregnancy, with her sister Hazel Grace Redding. We found out Hazel had passed away at our 25wk checkup. I continued to carry both girls until I went into premature labor with Hazel. I delivered Hazel on Sept 9, 2016 & was able to keep Julia in one more week before delivering her on 9/17/16. Julia was a big little girl and was born at 4lbs 5oz. She continued to stay in the NICU for about 2months for having desats. She was finally able to come home in November. Despite some bumps in the road, Julia has thrived and grown.

Julia's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Jennifer Sternal-Johnson.

A Note From Jen:
Julia was born at 31 weeks, after losing her twin Hazel. She spent two months in the NICU and now is turning 1! We spent a very hot morning at Tinker Park and got some great shots of her and big brother Jason (also a preemie!)
